The brief
A modern detached house with a patchy, sunken tarmac drive that pooled water by the garage. The owners wanted a clean, even surface with no loose stone and simple upkeep.
Notes on the scheme
The illustrative plan compares two routes: a new permeable base from the ground up, or an overlay if the existing construction proved sound. Either way, falls were designed to move water away from the house and towards the garden edge.
